What Mark does at WebBox?

My day to day involves my passion of backend development. Something that I thoroughly enjoy.

A little bit of background on me - I studied at Brooklands Collage in Surrey (way back now) with Halesowen (Micro Electronic Systems and Hardware Design). I have carried on my studies into development across the years and have had a great time along the way working for Microsoft and Lotus Development / IBM for quite a few years.

I did get onto mobile app development but my passion was back end development. Writing the first tracking app for Microsoft mobile that is still along with its IOS and android counterparts still in use today.

Q&A

What do you like to get up to outside of work?
I used to be interested in very high-performance motor cycles and travelled all over Europe to follow the Moto GP and World Super Bikes, my lifelong passion is electronics and communications plus software development and remains the same today.

My hobby now is writing packages for Laravel and also digital low power communications. But also spending my weekends with my partner or playing with Linux. I also enjoy shooting and have become quite a good marksman. Oh and Horses I love them - do not have one these days, but do try and ride when I can get the time.

What’s the best thing about working at WebBox?
The best thing about working at WebBox actually stems from my long history in the business. I can see that WebBox has some very talented and helpful colleagues. Giving me opportunity to do what I do best, which is develop.

What is something we might not know about you?
II was one of the youngest radio amateur’s to pass the required exams. I then moved on to building analogue and digital repeaters and was member of a small group that used shortwave radio to aid in the relief efforts for the “Asian tsunami”. Which had destroyed many areas in Asia and 300,000 people lost their lives --> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4V13VRKeV48. When covid hit the world, this ability helped me to keep in touch with family and friends.

You can only listen to one artist or band for the rest of your life. Who is it?
Duran Duran as they are a band from Birmingham and have created some great music.

And most importantly, for agency life, how do you take your tea/coffee?
Coffee white with one sugar please.
