St John Cymru, established in 1918, is the country's leading first aid charity. From rescuing soldiers on the battlefield in the First World War to being pitchside when Wales won Grand Slams and the Champions League finals came to Cardiff, the charity is committed to providing a lifeline to communities across Wales.
As our charity partner for 2018, St John Cymru asked us to design a microsite to commemorate its centenary year.
The website had to be accessible and fully responsive, have its own content management system and be ready to launch by St David’s Day.
Other requirements included an interactive timeline highlighting key dates in its history, an area to collate and feature stories from people helped over the years, and an online donation function.
WebBox worked closely with us to define our requirements, design and build a micro-site for our centenary appeal. WebBox understood our vision and brought this to life — thank you so much!Samantha Coles & Zarrion Walker Marketing Managers, St. John Cymru
Working closely with the charity’s Marketing Manager, we quickly developed a thorough understanding of the new brand identity developed to celebrate the centenary year. This allowed us to create a number of visuals and iterations in line with the brand guidelines.
The resulting website is modern and minimalist, fully responsive, bilingual and includes a number of subtle animations to add an additional visual layer of interest.
We developed an intuitive content management system and offered full on-site training to the small internal team to allow them to easily populate the site with interesting new content.
For example, The 100 Stories section allows people to read and share stories of how they have been helped by St John Cymru Wales over the years and includes video footage as well as articles. We also incorporated a ‘donate’ button in a key area of the layout to encourage online donations.
A brand-new News and Events sections allow the audience to keep up to date with all the latest centenary news and get involved in events to help raise funds for the charity.
By following our efficient project methodology, the site was delivered to a tight deadline in readiness for celebrations to commence on St David’s Day.View website
