Premier Christian News.

Background.

Since starting as a London-based radio station almost 25 years ago, Premier has flourished into a multi-media organisation that spans radio, magazines and interactive websites with on-demand video and audio.

With an audience of more than one million people every week across their media platforms, Premier represents a strong Christian voice in the UK.

As part of their expansion — and increased demand — the organisation felt that Premier Christian News now needs to stand alone as its own brand. This, in turn, meant the need for a new website dedicated to the news outlet.

With the aim of becoming the most popular Christian news site in the UK, our task was to design and develop a news-based website using a bespoken design and user-friendly content management system (CMS) that would meet the fast-paced requirements of the news media.

Premier appointed WebBox to undertake the design, development and support of our new website; Premier News. WebBox were agile and consultative in their approach and delivered the website which exceeded our aims and objectives. The website has attracted over 460,000 unique users in the first 3 full months of launching the new website and this continues to increase month by month. We have also experienced very quick post-project support which has helped us evolve the website further as we learn from the data that we gather from our users and tracking tools. We continue to work with WebBox to host and support the website, and we look forward to working with them on future projects.

Solution.

Working closely with the Premier team to fully grasp the brand’s mission, vision, values and guidelines meant we were able to bring these to the forefront of the design.

Centred around Premier’s key short and long term objectives, the new Premier Christian News website design is slick, responsive, easily accessible, and fully compatible with mobile and tablet devices.

With user experience (UX) also at the heart of the design, the new website is speedy and interactive, with content that’s easy to access, share, and engage with.

Personalising the user experience was also essential, so we integrated Personyze (an app that uses AI to provide relevant experiences that drive engagement and conversions). This allows the site to serve relevant news content and articles to individual users based on the previous articles they’ve read and topics they’ve searched for or engaged with.

We also integrated a range of analytical tools that allow Premier to customise the user experience in line with the data and insights they receive.

Growth is also an important factor for Premier Christian News, so we made the frontend of the site fully multilingual ready. This means that the foundations are in place, and can be accessed at a later phase in line with the brand’s expanding target audience.

Time is of the essence in the fast-paced world of news media, so the site’s content management system would need to be simple, quick and efficient. With this in mind, we developed and implemented an easy-to-use CMS that allows the team and its journalists to update news headings, breaking news items and upload news items as swiftly and efficiently as possible.

The CMS also gives news authors access to a variety of templates to suit each individual article (such as video templates, text-only based templates, banner-focussed templates and infographics). Contributors also have the ability to create both infographics and interactive timelines via the CMS.

We also delivered on-site CMS training in London to make sure that the Premier Christian News team could update and add content to the new site from the get-go.
